NYC Honorarium to Be Doubled to ₹5,000 Soon, Says Satish Sharma

Minister says Omar Abdullah-led government will fulfill welfare promises, address temporary employees' issues, and strengthen youth development initiatives.

Handwara, Jun 20: Jammu and Kashmir Minister for Transport, Consumer Affairs & Public Distribution, and Information Technology, Satish Sharma, on Friday announced that the monthly honorarium for National Youth Corps (NYC) volunteers will soon be increased from ₹2,500 to ₹5,000.

Addressing reporters at Sheikh-ul-Alam Environmental Hall in Handwara, Sharma said the Omar Abdullah-led government remains committed to fulfilling all promises made to the people. He stated that welfare measures related to LPG gas, rice distribution, and other public-centric initiatives would be implemented effectively.

The minister also assured that the long-pending issues of Rehbar-e-Khel employees and other temporary workers would be addressed soon. He said the government is actively working towards the regularisation of temporary employees.

On improving public transport, Sharma announced that ten government buses would be provided to the district to enhance connectivity. He further said that playgrounds would be developed across various areas to encourage youth participation in sports and constructive activities.

Speaking on national security, Sharma said Pakistan and China continue to conspire against India but asserted that their attempts have always failed and would continue to do so.

He also praised Chief Minister Omar Abdullah’s commitment to youth welfare, saying his vision is focused on creating new opportunities and ensuring the progress and prosperity of young people across Jammu and Kashmir.
