Jammu, Dec 6:
In a politically significant development—especially at a time when tensions between National Conference leader Aga Syed Ruhullah Mehdi and the Jammu & Kashmir Chief Minister continue to dominate discourse—Rajya Sabha MP Sajjad Ahmed Kichloo met AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi and senior NC leader Aga Ruhullah at the Parliament House in New Delhi today.

Kichloo described the engagement as an “important political interaction,” noting that it was held in a positive and constructive atmosphere, focusing on issues of governance, development, and regional cooperation. The meeting is being closely watched as Aga Ruhullah remains openly critical of several recent decisions of the J&K Government, particularly those concerning public rights and administrative transparency, placing him at the centre of an ongoing tussle with the Chief Minister.
Notably, Owaisi’s presence added another layer of political relevance to the meeting. AIMIM, in recent years, has demonstrated its growing electoral footprint in parts of the country, particularly during the Bihar Assembly elections, where the party registered a strong performance in the Seemanchal region. Securing multiple seats, the party showcased its ability to influence minority-dominated constituencies and emerge as a key player in tightly contested political landscapes. Analysts view AIMIM’s rise as an example of shifting voter dynamics, especially among youth and marginalized communities seeking alternative political voices.
Kichloo further shared that he was accompanied by Shami Oberoi and Choudhary Ramzan, whose presence contributed to the detailed conversations. All leaders expressed optimism regarding future coordination and sustained dialogue.
Although no formal comment was made on whether the ongoing rift involving Aga Ruhullah and the CM featured in the discussion, the timing of the meeting has triggered fresh speculation about potential recalibrations and emerging alignments within J&K’s political corridors.
As the Union Territory navigates a sensitive and evolving political phase, today’s meeting appears to be part of a broader attempt by influential stakeholders to build bridges, address regional concerns, and strategize for the road ahead.
