MVD Kishtwar, Police Department and Traffic Police Hold Meeting with Transporters and Drivers for Shri Machail Mata Ji Yatra 2026 Arrangements

Kishtwar, 23 May 2026: Under the directions of Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar, Shri Pankaj Kumar Sharma (JKAS), the Motor Vehicles Department Kishtwar, led by ARTO Kishtwar Shri Tasleem Wani (JKAS), in coordination with the Police and Traffic Police Departments, held a meeting with transporters and drivers of Block Paddar at SDPO Office Gulabgarh to review arrangements for the upcoming Shri Machail Mata Ji Yatra 2026.

During the meeting, a detailed transport plan was discussed and finalised for the smooth conduct of the Yatra.

Transporters and drivers were directed to ensure adequate transport facilities for the convenience of pilgrims during the Yatra period. Officials instructed that only fit vehicles with valid documents would be allowed to operate.

It was also stressed that vehicles without valid route permits for the designated route would not be permitted to ply.

Participants were directed to strictly follow traffic and transport regulations, especially to prevent overloading and overcharging.

Instructions were also issued to paste approved fare lists on the windscreens of passenger vehicles to ensure transparency and protect the interests of passengers and pilgrims.

The meeting highlighted strong coordination among the Motor Vehicles Department, Police, and Traffic authorities for smooth transport regulation during the Yatra. On-the-spot fitness inspections of vehicles were also conducted.

Awareness about the ongoing 100 Days “Nasha Mukt Jammu Kashmir” Abhiyan was also raised, and drivers were sensitised about the harmful effects of drug abuse, with an appeal for safe, responsible, and disciplined driving.

ARTO Kishtwar reiterated that passenger safety and smooth transport arrangements during Shri Machail Mata Ji Yatra 2026 remain among the administration’s top priorities.
