Poonch, April 7: Continuing its drive to ensure orderly markets and environmental compliance, the Municipal Council Poonch today carried out a special enforcement drive in Qila Market.
The drive was led by the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Municipal Council Poonch Khalil A Banday along with enforcement staff and field functionaries. During the inspection, several shopkeepers were found displaying their goods outside their shops, thereby encroaching upon public pathways and road space.
Acting firmly, the team directed the violators to immediately remove the encroachments. Shopkeepers were warned that repeated violations would invite strict action under municipal laws, including penalties and seizure of goods.
In addition to encroachment removal, the team also seized a significant quantity of banned single use plastic items from various shops. The CEO reiterated that the use and sale of single use plastic is strictly prohibited and violators will face legal consequences as per rules.
Encroachments and use of banned plastic not only harm the environment but also create inconvenience for the general public. Such violations will not be tolerated, the CEO stated.
The Municipal Council Poonch has urged all shopkeepers to comply with the regulations and maintain cleanliness and discipline in market areas. The Council further informed that such drives will continue in other parts of the town in the coming days.
