Jammu/Srinagar, March 31:
The historic Mughal Road has been closed for vehicular movement following overnight rain and fresh snowfall at Pir Gali, officials said on Tuesday.

Traffic authorities suspended movement on the road as a precautionary measure due to slippery conditions and accumulation of snow at the high-altitude pass.

Senior Superintendent of Police (Traffic) Farooq Qaiser Malik said, “Mughal Road has been closed for the time being due to overnight rain and snowfall at Pir Gali. Further update will be shared as and when the road is declared open and safe.”

Commuters have been advised to avoid travel on the route until it is declared safe for movement.

The Mughal Road, which connects the Kashmir Valley with Rajouri and Poonch districts, often faces closures during spells of inclement weather, especially in higher reaches like Pir Gali.

Authorities said the situation will be reviewed after assessing weather and road conditions, and traffic will be restored only after ensuring complete safety.

Further updates are awaited.
