Mexican drug lord Nemesio Oseguera, better known as ‘El Mencho’ and carrying a $15 million reward, was tracked down in a massive operation by Mexican authorities following a crucial tip-off from one of his romantic partners. The information reportedly enabled officials to swiftly plan and execute the raid.

Backed by a heavily armed security detail that had previously repelled state forces, Mencho — the leader of the notorious Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG) — and his gunmen engaged in a fierce exchange of fire with security personnel on Sunday when the National Guard’s Special Immediate Reaction Force moved in to capture him. During the confrontation, the cartel members reportedly struck a military helicopter, forcing it to make an emergency landing at a nearby base.
