Massive Public Participation Marks Intensified Nasha Mukht J&K Campaign in Shopian

Awareness drives, rallies, yoga sessions and sermons held across district under 100-day anti-drug initiative

Shopian, May 08: A wide range of awareness and outreach activities were today conducted across Shopian district under the ongoing 100 Day Nasha Mukht Jammu and Kashmir Abhiyan, witnessing massive public participation from students, youth, teachers, religious leaders, transporters, government departments, and civil society members.

The campaign featured pledge ceremonies, awareness rallies, sports activities, yoga sessions, poster exhibitions, counselling programmes, seminars, debates, and public interaction drives aimed at spreading awareness about the harmful effects of drug abuse and promoting a healthy, disciplined, and drug-free society.

Educational institutions across the district actively participated by organizing anti-drug awareness programmes, storytelling sessions, sports events, and yoga activities. Students and staff members took pledges to stay away from drugs and act as awareness ambassadors in their communities.

Various government departments including Health, Education, Rural Development Department (RDD), AYUSH, ICDS, Cooperative, Labour, Transport, Jal Shakti, Municipal Committees, and Agriculture allied departments conducted special outreach programmes as part of the intensified campaign.

Religious institutions also played a key role, with special sermons and awareness messages delivered during Friday congregational prayers across mosques in different villages and tehsils of the district. Religious scholars emphasized moral responsibility, social harmony, and collective efforts to protect youth from substance abuse.

Transporters, farmers, traders, youth groups, and local communities also joined the campaign by participating in public pledges, poster drives, and awareness activities under the message “Say No to Drugs, Say Yes to Life.”

The campaign witnessed an overwhelming public response, reflecting a strong collective resolve between administration and society to build a safer, healthier, and drug-free Shopian through sustained awareness and community participation.
