SRINAGAR, MAY 10: Manoj Sinha on Sunday handed over appointment letters to newly recruited constables of the Jammu and Kashmir Police during a landmark presentation ceremony held at the Armed Police Complex, Zewan.
Around 4,000 recruits were selected through a transparent and merit-based recruitment process conducted by the Jammu and Kashmir Services Selection Board.
Congratulating the newly recruited constables, the Lieutenant Governor exhorted them to discharge their duties with integrity, impartiality and unwavering commitment to national service. He said that joining the Jammu and Kashmir Police was not merely a career choice but the acceptance of a legacy written in sacrifice and bravery.
Paying tribute to the brave personnel of J&K Police, Manoj Sinha said the peace and progress enjoyed by the people of Jammu and Kashmir were the result of the unwavering resolve and sacrifices made by police personnel. He described the Jammu and Kashmir Police as a symbol of selfless service, duty and excellence in maintaining law and order as well as carrying out counter-terrorism operations.
The Lieutenant Governor also stressed the need to modernise policing and integrate Artificial Intelligence into police operations. He urged the police department to prepare a roadmap to make the force future-ready in view of emerging security challenges.

Highlighting the changing nature of threats, he said modern-day criminals and terrorists increasingly exploit technology, encrypted networks and digital platforms instead of conventional weapons. He warned that cybercrime, narco-terrorism, digital fraud and narrative warfare were serious present-day threats affecting lives, livelihoods and public trust.
He further urged recruits across all wings of the police force to utilise robust digital infrastructure and technological advancements to effectively combat emerging security challenges.
Among those present on the occasion were Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo, Director General of Police Nalin Prabhat, Principal Secretary Home Chandraker Bharti, Special DG Coordination PHQ S. J. M. Gillani, Commandant General Home Guards Abdul Ghani Mir, ADGP Headquarters M. K. Sinha, senior police and civil administration officials, and family members of the recruits.
