JAMMU, April 2:
The Jammu and Kashmir Government on Thursday ordered a major reshuffle in the police administration, transferring and posting a large number of IPS officers across key positions in the Union Territory.

According to Government Order No. 200-Home of 2026 dated April 2, issued by the Home Department, the changes have been effected “in the interest of administration” and come into force with immediate effect.
In the top-level changes, Tejinder Singh (IPS-2008), who was serving as DIG Rajouri-Poonch Range, has been transferred and posted as Inspector General of Police (IGP), CID. Similarly, Sarah Rizvi (IPS-2008), DIG Udhampur-Reasi Range, has been appointed as IGP Crime, J&K, relieving Sujit Kumar of the additional charge.
Shahid Mehraj Rather (IPS-2009) has been posted as Director, Police Telecommunication, J&K, while Shridhar Patil Daulu (IPS-2010) has been shifted from DIG Doda-Kishtwar-Ramban Range to DIG Jammu-Samba-Kathua Range.
In another significant move, Haseeb-Ur-Rehman (IPS-2010) has been appointed as DIG Traffic Kashmir, while Nisha Nathyal (IPS-2010) takes over as DIG IR Jammu. Subsequently, Dr. Vinod Kumar (IPS-2011) has been posted as DIG North Kashmir Range, replacing Maqsood-ul-Zaman (IPS-2011), who has now been transferred as DIG Armed Kashmir.
Among other key changes, Shiv Kumar Sharma (IPS-2011) has been posted as DIG Udhampur-Reasi Range, while Sargun (IPS-2012) will head the Doda-Kishtwar-Ramban Range as DIG. Sandeep Wazir (IPS-2012) has been assigned as DIG Rajouri-Poonch Range.
The order also states that Anita Sharma (IPS-2012) has been appointed as DIG Civil Defence & SDRF Jammu, while Jatinder Singh Johar (IPS-2012) will serve as DIG Headquarters. Zahid Naseem Manhas (IPS-2012) has been posted as DIG Railways J&K.
At the district level, several SSPs have been reshuffled. Amod Nagpure Ashok (IPS-2013) has been transferred as SSP Anantnag, while Amritpal Singh (IPS-2014) has been moved as SSP Udhampur. Sudhanshu Dhama (IPS-2016) will take over as SSP Ganderbal, and Anuj Kumar (IPS-2016) has been posted as SSP Samba.
Among other postings, Bisma Qazi (IPS-2017) has been appointed as SSP Technical CID Headquarters, while Deepika (IPS-2018) has been posted as SSP CTFD CID Headquarters. Sukant Shalija Ballabh (IPS-2019) will serve as SSP Security Jammu.
The government has also effected several transfers in IR battalions, SDRF, and training institutions, indicating a comprehensive administrative overhaul aimed at strengthening policing and operational efficiency across Jammu and Kashmir.
The reshuffle is seen as a routine but significant administrative exercise to streamline functioning and enhance law enforcement effectiveness across the Union Territory.
