Ganderbal, Apr 18: Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Manoj Sinha, on Friday highlighted the pivotal role and supreme sacrifices made by the Jammu and Kashmir Police, stating that the J&K Police exemplifies unmatched courage and heroism, assuring that the Union Territory is in safe hands.

The Lt Governor was speaking at the Passing Out Parade of the 16th Batch of the Basic Recruit Training Course (BRTC) at the Police Training School (PTS) Manigam in Ganderbal, where a new batch of police constables joined the J&K Police force. During the event, he paid tribute to the police personnel who sacrificed their lives during the recent anti-terror operations in Kathua, reaffirming the nation’s gratitude for their supreme sacrifices.

LG Sinha praised the J&K Police force for its professionalism, dedication, and unyielding resolve, making it an admired force across the country. He said, “In the past few years, the combined efforts of the J&K Police, Army, and CAPFs have successfully curbed terrorism in the Kashmir Valley, although the rise in terrorist incidents in Jammu division remains concerning. Our aim is to eliminate terrorism in both divisions.”

The Lt Governor expressed pride and respect for the fallen heroes, emphasizing that the nation is indebted to the J&K Police for their unparalleled sacrifices. He expressed confidence that the new recruits, having imbibed values such as courage, patience, self-sacrifice, and discipline at the Manigam Police Training School, would be well-prepared to face future challenges.

Sinha hailed J&K Police as a “finest example of superior internal security” with a strong legacy of dedication and an unwavering commitment to safeguard the nation’s integrity and sovereignty. He urged the recruits to uphold the highest standards of discipline, professionalism, and patriotism in their service. “Your duty is not just to maintain law and order, but to combat terrorism, dismantle drug syndicates, and foster a secure environment for peace and development,” he said.

The Lt Governor also acknowledged the ongoing efforts of the security forces, noting their success in reducing terrorism in the region. “Where there is will, there is a way forward, and our forces have consistently embodied this spirit,” he remarked.

During the ceremony, the Lt Governor administered the oath to the passing-out cadets, inspected the parade, took the Rashtriya Salute, and recognized the top-performing cadets for their achievements. He congratulated the recruits and urged them to serve the nation with dedication and sensitivity.

Addressing the evolving security landscape, the Lt Governor pointed out the increasing use of cryptocurrency in narcotics dealings, with the dark web emerging as a new platform for the drug trade. He stressed the importance of adapting to rapid technological advancements, upgrading skills, and countering new challenges posed by enemies. “The misuse of new technologies has not only escalated drug trafficking but also cybercrimes,” he added.
