The dismissed individuals include an Assistant Wireless Operator from the Jammu and Kashmir Police Department and a Senior Assistant from the Public Works (R&B) Department. Their activities had reportedly come under the scrutiny of intelligence and law enforcement agencies for being deeply prejudicial to the interests of the state.

Basharat Ahmad Mir, an Assistant Wireless Operator with the J&K Police and a resident of Upper Brein, Srinagar, was allegedly found to be in continuous contact with Pakistan intelligence operatives. According to credible intelligence inputs, he shared sensitive information regarding security installations and troop deployments. Being posted at a sensitive location, Mir had access to critical data, which he allegedly misused, posing a grave threat to India’s sovereignty and national security.

Ishtiyak Ahmed Malik, a Senior Assistant in the Public Works (R&B) Department and a resident of Shitroo Larnoo, Anantnag, has been identified as an active member of the proscribed Jamaat-e-Islami Jammu & Kashmir (JeI-JK) and a terror associate of the banned Hizbul Mujahideen outfit. Authorities allege that Malik played a key role in strengthening the JeI network and facilitated the recruitment of overground workers for Hizbul Mujahideen. He is also accused of aiding militants by providing them with shelter, logistics, and actionable intelligence on the movement of security forces.

The Jammu and Kashmir administration has reiterated its zero-tolerance policy towards anti-national elements within the government system and emphasized that those misusing their official position to support terrorism will face strict action.
