In a major breakthrough, Doda Police have arrested a woman absconder who had been evading arrest for the past 16 years.
The accused, Shagufta Parveen, daughter of Mubarak Ali Sheikh, resident of Sangram Bhatta, Tehsil and District Kishtwar, was wanted in connection with FIR No. 42/2008 registered at Police Station Bhaderwah under sections 376, 363-A, 379, 493-A, and 109 of the Ranbir Penal Code (RPC).
Acting on specific intelligence inputs, a special police team from Police Station Bhaderwah was constituted to trace the absconder. After sustained efforts and continuous surveillance, the team successfully apprehended the accused from Katra on November 6, 2025.
Following her arrest, the accused was produced before the Hon’ble Fast Track Court, District & Sessions Court Doda, which remanded her to District Jail Bhaderwah till November 13, 2025.
This successful operation reflects the unwavering commitment of Doda Police, under the supervision of SSP Doda Shri Sandeep Mehta, JKPS, to ensure that long-pending fugitives are brought to justice and the rule of law is upheld in the district.
