Kishtwar Police Recover 54 Missing Smartphones Worth ₹10 Lakh, Return Them to Owners

Kishtwar, July 6: In a major success, Kishtwar Police’s Cyber Police Station recovered 54 missing smartphones worth approximately ₹10 lakh and handed them over to their rightful owners.

The smartphones were formally returned during a function attended by SSP Kishtwar Naresh Singh (JKPS), Additional SP Kishtwar, and DySP Headquarters/SHO Cyber Police Station Kishtwar. The owners expressed gratitude to the police for recovering their lost devices.

Speaking on the occasion, SSP Naresh Singh urged citizens to maintain proper cyber hygiene and exercise caution while using mobile phones, social media platforms, and other digital services to safeguard personal information and prevent misuse of data.

He advised people who lose their mobile phones to immediately report the incident and register a complaint on the Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR) portal. He said the CEIR platform allows users to block lost or stolen mobile phones and provides regular online updates regarding the recovery status of their devices.

Reaffirming its commitment to public service, Kishtwar Police said it will continue to leverage technology for effective policing and ensure prompt action in cases related to cybercrime and lost electronic devices. Citizens were also encouraged to report such incidents without delay to the nearest police station or the Cyber Police Station for timely assistance.
