A surprise search planned by the Anti-Narcotics squad of the Kottayam police at the house of a man suspected to be a drug dealer resulted in a shock for them due to the presence of several violent dogs (mostly pitbulls and rottweilers) trained to bite anyone wearing ‘khaki’ attire.
According to Kottayam Superintendent of Police (SP), K Karthick, Robin had rented the house and was known in the area as a dog trainer.
During the raid, the breeder, Robin George, who used to sell marijuana, managed to escape but not before letting a bunch of dogs loose. Another person, who was suspected to be a customer, also managed to escape from the spot.
However, despite the initial hindrance, “the dogs were subdued and over 17 kilograms of ganja worth lakhs was seized from the site,” police said.
According to our preliminary investigation, he (the accused) was living here on rent and was known to everyone in the area as a dog trainer. Therefore, people used to leave their dogs with him, at the rate of Rs 1,000 per day, when they went outside and he would look after the canines.
