All the government and private schools in Kashmir are likely to have revised timings from Monday, Education Minister Sakina Itoo said on Friday evening.
In an exclusive conversation with Greater Kashmir, Sakina Itoo said the department is planning to change the timing for schools from Monday, considering the difficulties faced by the small school going children with the current timings.
“We will change the timing of schools from Monday. The school within Srinagar municipal limits will function from 8:30am to 2:30 while the schools outside Srinagar Municipal limits and other districts will function from 9am to 3pm,” she said.
She said there has been a significant improvement in the weather and temperature has also gone down with the recent rainfall.
“We are planning to revise the timing from Monday,” she said.
Earlier, the timing for schools was falling under municipal areas of all districts, from primary to class 12th, from 7:30am to 11:30am while for rural areas it was fixed from 8am to 12noon respectively.
The timing was fixed after the schools reopened post 15-days summer vacation, amid the demand from parents to extend the summer vacation.
“In coming months there will again be a change in school timing considering the weather conditions of early winter months,” she said.
