Continuing its crackdown under Operation Kamdhenu, Jammu Rural Police foiled a bovine smuggling attempt in Gharota area.
During the intervening night of 2-3/03/2026 special naka laid by Police Station Gharota at Thathi Chowk, a TATA Mobile vehicle bearing registration No. JK02D-4017 coming from Akhnoor was intercepted.
On noticing the naka, the driver abandoned the vehicle and fled from the spot, leaving behind 07 bovines.
All the bovines were rescued and the vehicle seized.
In this regard, FIR No. 26/2026 under Section 223 BNS and Section 11 of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act has been registered at Police Station Gharota.
Further investigation is underway to trace the accused.
