J&K Govt Orders Major Administrative Reshuffle; 49 IAS/JKAS Officers Transferred

Srinagar, October 7, 2026: The Jammu and Kashmir Government has ordered a major administrative reshuffle, transferring and posting 49 IAS and JKAS officers with immediate effect. The changes have been issued by the General Administration Department (GAD) under Government Order No. 1612-JK(GAD) of 2026, dated October 7.

Among the key changes, Shaleen Kabra, IAS, Financial Commissioner (Additional Chief Secretary), Jal Shakti Department, has been given the additional charge of Administrative Secretary, Revenue Department. Dr Ashish Chandra Verma, IAS, has been posted as Financial Commissioner (Additional Chief Secretary), Agriculture Production Department.

The reshuffle also brings significant changes at the divisional and district levels. Vikas Kundal, IAS, has been appointed Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, replacing Ramesh Kumar. Several Deputy Commissioners have also been shifted, including postings in Jammu, Rajouri, Kupwara, Samba, Budgam, Ganderbal and Udhampur.

Other notable appointments include Mamta Yadav, IAS, as Director, Information, J&K; Basharat Qayoom, IAS, as Commissioner, Srinagar Municipal Corporation; Ayushi Sudan, IAS, as Commissioner, Jammu Municipal Corporation; and Athar Aamir Ul Shafi Khan, IAS, as Managing Director, National Health Mission, J&K.

The reshuffle also includes several JKAS officers, with Kuldeep Krishan Sidha posted as Deputy Commissioner, Pulwama, and Charandeep Singh as Deputy Commissioner, Shopian, among other changes. The government stated that the transfers and postings have been ordered in the interest of administration and will take effect immediately.
