IUST Organises “Run for Health” Under Nasha Mukt J&K Abhiyan in Pulwama

Awareness run promotes fitness and drug-free healthy lifestyle

Pulwama, May 14: The Directorate of Physical Education and Sports, Islamic University of Science and Technology (Islamic University of Science and Technology), in collaboration with the Centre for Mental Health and Wellness, organised a “Run for Health” event under the ongoing 100-day Nasha Mukt Jammu and Kashmir Abhiyan.

The event witnessed active participation from faculty members, administrative officers, students, staff, local residents, and representatives from various institutions including the Town Welfare Committee Awantipora, Awantipora Forest Division, Sabir Abdullah High School, and Mantaqi Higher Secondary School.

The run started from the university main campus and concluded at the Synthetic Athletic Track, with participants showing strong enthusiasm for the awareness initiative promoting fitness and a drug-free lifestyle.

The programme concluded with a basic fitness session conducted by Dr. Hilal Ahmad Rather, Assistant Director Physical Education and Sports, who highlighted the importance of regular physical activity in maintaining good health and preventing substance abuse.

Incharge Directorate of Physical Education and Sports, Dr. Iqbal Quraishi, appreciated the participants and collaborating organisations for their support, stating that the university remains committed to promoting wellness, physical fitness, and sustained awareness against drug abuse among youth and society.
