Leaders of India and China exchanged congratulatory messages on Tuesday, marking the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations. This comes as both countries work to reset ties after more than four years of strained relations due to the eastern Ladakh military standoff.
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Guo Jiakun confirmed the milestone, stating, “Today marks the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between India and China,” during a media briefing.
President Xi Jinping and Indian President Droupadi Murmu, along with Chinese Premier Li Qiang and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, exchanged messages to commemorate the occasion.
Guo emphasized that both India and China are ancient civilizations, major developing nations, and key members of the Global South, currently at a crucial stage of modernization.
