Former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan may have lost vision in his right eye, prompting the Supreme Court to set up a medical board and allow him to communicate with his children. Reports indicate that he had only 15% vision following a medical procedure, while jail authorities allegedly took no action despite his repeated complaints.
Khan, currently serving a sentence in a corruption case at Rawalpindi’s Adiala Jail, may have completely lost sight in his right eye, according to reports. A report published in Dawn highlighted a “deteriorating ocular condition” and called for an “immediate independent examination” to prevent a “serious risk” to his health. In response, the Supreme Court of Pakistan has formed a medical board to assess the former cricketer-turned-politician’s condition.
The Dawn report further noted that the Supreme Court has ordered that Khan be allowed to speak with his children. Both the eye examination and the phone calls are to be completed by February 16 (Monday). The directives came from a two-member bench, led by Chief Justice of Pakistan Yahya Afridi and Justice Shahid Bilal Hassan, during hearings on Khan’s conditions at Adiala Jail. (Agencies)
