NEW DELHI, Jan 8: Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Amit Shah chaired a security review meeting on Jammu and Kashmir in New Delhi today. Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir Manoj Sinha, Union Home Secretary, Director of the Intelligence Bureau (IB), Chief Secretary and Director General of Police of Jammu and Kashmir, heads of Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs), and other senior officers were present at the meeting.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Government of India is committed to establishing lasting peace in Jammu and Kashmir and completely eliminating terrorism. Reiterating the zero-tolerance policy against terrorism, Shah said that due to sustained and coordinated efforts of the Modi government, the terror ecosystem in Jammu and Kashmir has been crippled.
The Home Minister appreciated the efforts of the security agencies in strengthening the security scenario in Jammu and Kashmir. He stated that counter-terror (CT) operations targeting terrorist infrastructure and terror financing should continue in a mission mode.
Amit Shah directed all security agencies to remain alert and continue working in close coordination to ensure that the gains achieved after the abrogation of Article 370 are sustained and the goal of a ‘terror-free J&K’ is achieved at the earliest. He assured that all necessary resources would be made available for this endeavour.
