The Gujarat High Court on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, dismissed AAP national convenor Arvind Kejriwal’s appeal challenging the ₹25,000 cost imposed on him in the case concerning information about Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s educational degrees.
The appeal stemmed from a March 2023 judgment in which the High Court had set aside a 2016 Central Information Commission (CIC) direction requiring Gujarat University to provide information concerning degrees in PM Modi’s name. The single-judge bench had also imposed a ₹25,000 cost on Kejriwal.
Kejriwal challenged the cost through an appeal before a division bench comprising Chief Justice Sunita Agarwal and Justice D N Ray. After hearing the matter, the High Court rejected the challenge, leaving the ₹25,000 cost in place.
