The old city of Kashi (Varanasi) is all set to get a new international state-of-the-art stadium with a them that has never been seen in the sports industry.
The name of the stadium has not been revealed yet but it is reported to have a facade bearing features reminiscent of Kashi and its lord Vishwanath.
The roofs will resemble crescent that crowns Lord Shiva and floodlights like tridents. “Galleries will be styled like Kashi’s ghats, huge motifs of `bilva patra’ in metallic frames will be installed and the pavilion and lounge will be shaped like `damru’ (pellet drum) right above the enterance,â divisional commissioner Kaushal Raj Sharma said.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the Rs 450 crore international cricket stadium in Varanasi on September 23. The stadium will have modern facilities and a seating capacity of 30,000. The event is expected to be attended by star cricketers and officials from the Board of Control for Cricket in India and UP Cricket Association. The ceremony will also feature performances by the best performers of the ongoing Kashi Saansad Sanskritik Mahotsava.
The stadium is designed by Larsen and Toubro and the only thing remaining is attaining the no-objection certificates from various departments. The design images that are being shared on social media look immaculate.
