Continuing its intensified War on Drugs, Gandhi Nagar Police Station achieved a major breakthrough by arresting four drug peddlers and recovering approximately 167 grams of heroin (chitta) along with two pistols and ammunition in separate operations.
On January 8, 2026, police recovered 30 grams of heroin and arrested Harpreet Singh alias Bablu. Acting on his disclosure, further arrests were made on February 8, 2026. The accused identified as Mohd Iqbal S/o Lal Hussain, a resident of Manohar Gopala, Samba, and Amit Kumar alias Jogi S/o Omkar Nath, a resident of Ward No. 01, Pakki Mandi, Samba, were apprehended. A police team led by IC PP Nehru Market PSI Ashutosh Singh, under the supervision of SP City South, SDPO Gandhi Nagar and SHO Inspector Jai Paul Sharma, recovered approximately 146 grams of heroin-like substance and one pistol from their possession.
In another operation on February 12, 2026, police apprehended Balvinder Kumar S/o Ajit Raj and Sunny Kumar S/o Yog Raj, both residents of Ward No. 04, RS Pura. The operation was conducted by PSI Shubham Sharma, I/C PP Digiana, under the supervision of SP City South, SDPO Gandhi Nagar and SHO Inspector Jai Paul Sharma. Police recovered approximately 21 grams of heroin, one pistol and one live cartridge from their possession.
In this connection, FIR No. 09/2026 and FIR No. 38/2026 under relevant sections of the BNS, NDPS Act and Arms Act have been registered at Gandhi Nagar Police Station, and further investigation is underway.
Jammu Police reiterated its firm commitment to taking strict action against drug peddlers and criminal elements, and to eradicating the drug menace from society.
