Kishtwar, June 19: In a significant breakthrough against terrorism and its support ecosystem, Jammu and Kashmir Police has arrested two key accused allegedly involved in providing logistical and other support to local terrorists operating in the Dachan area of Kishtwar district.
The arrests were made in connection with FIR No. 167/2025 registered at Police Station Kishtwar under Section 109 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), Sections 13, 16, 18, 19, 20 and 23 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), and Sections 7/27 of the Arms Act.
Sharing details of the case, SSP Kishtwar Naresh Singh (JKPS) said that following a meticulous investigation, police arrested Tariq Ahmed Ginoo, son of Late Mohammad Shaban, a government employee in the Forest Department, and Mohammad Iqbal, son of Ghulam Abbas Wani, both residents of Tander, Dachan, for their alleged involvement in facilitating terrorist activities.
The SSP further informed that Muneer Ahmed and Mashkoor Ahmed, both residents of Chatroo, had earlier been arrested in the same case for similar offences.
Police said the investigation is progressing and efforts are underway to identify and apprehend all individuals associated with the terror support network. The objective, officials said, is to completely dismantle the ecosystem that aids and abets terrorist activities in the region.
Reiterating its zero-tolerance policy towards terrorism and its facilitators, J&K Police reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining peace, public order and security across Kishtwar district and the Union Territory.
