Ex-Congress Minister Saroori Visits Chatroo, Interacts with Locals, Raises Key Public Issues

Kishtwar, Mar 26: Senior Congress leader and former minister Ghulam Mohammad Saroori on Thursday conducted an extensive tour of several areas in Chatroo block, interacting with local residents to understand their concerns and assess ground realities.

During the visit, residents highlighted several pressing issues, including a steep rise in electricity bills, frequent unscheduled power cuts, and difficulties in updating ration cards from APL to BPL categories. Concerns were also raised over rising unemployment, irregularities in the implementation of MGNREGA, and other basic civic problems. Locals expressed dissatisfaction over the lack of visible development and improvement in essential services.

Addressing the gathering, Saroori expressed concern that despite nearly two years under the current administration, the situation on the ground remains largely unchanged. He attributed the ongoing challenges to administrative inefficiencies and lack of effective governance.

He urged people to support the Indian National Congress, stating that the party stands for inclusive growth, public welfare, and the protection of democratic values.

Recalling his tenure, Saroori said several developmental initiatives were undertaken in Chatroo, leading to improvements in infrastructure and public services. He assured that with public support, such development could be revived and further strengthened.

The visit was accompanied by several Congress leaders, including Ghulam Qadir Sheikh, Mohd Iqbal Keen, Irshad Ahmed, Ayaz Ahmed Malik, Akhtar Hussain Butt, Ch. Bashir Ahmed, Shahnawaz Hussain Malik, Mohd Ayoob Malik, Farooq Ahmed Wani, Mohd Ishaq, Mohd Irfan Mattoo, Javed Ahmed, Sajjad Ahmed Malik, and Mohd Issa Malik, along with a large number of local residents.
