Er Rashid sanctions Rs 21 lakh MPLADS fund for colleges and eco-tourism projects in Baramulla

Funds to boost student transport, sports infrastructure and eco-tourism development across the Baramulla parliamentary constituency

Srinagar, Feb 23: Member of Parliament from Baramulla, Engineer Rashid, has approved development works worth over ₹21 lakh under the Members of Parliament Local Area Development Scheme (MPLADS) for the 2025–26 financial year, focusing on higher education support and promotion of eco-tourism in North Kashmir.

Party sources said the District Development Commissioner, Baramulla, has granted administrative sanction for a set of projects across the parliamentary constituency.

Among the major allocations is ₹15.019 lakh for the procurement of a 17-seater vehicle for Government Degree College Uri to address transportation difficulties faced by students from remote and border areas. The initiative is expected to ease commuting challenges and improve attendance.

In Baramulla town, ₹3 lakh has been earmarked for levelling and upgrading the playground at Government Degree College Baramulla to strengthen sports infrastructure and provide better facilities for students.

Additionally, ₹3 lakh has been approved for the development of Dariyan at Kutru Nari Bal as a local eco-tourism destination. The project includes creation of seating areas, installation of a gazebo, development of viewpoints and enhancement of basic amenities to attract visitors while maintaining environmental sustainability.

Political representatives said the allocations are aimed at improving access to education, promoting youth engagement and boosting tourism potential in the Baramulla parliamentary segment. They added that MPLADS funds would continue to be directed towards priority public infrastructure and community needs across North Kashmir. (Agencies)
