Eid-ul-Fitr to Be Celebrated in J&K on Monday as Shawwal Crescent Sighted

Srinagar: Grand Mufti Nasir-ul-Islam announced on Sunday evening that the crescent moon for the month of Shawwal has been sighted in Jammu and Kashmir, confirming that Eid-ul-Fitr will be celebrated on Monday.

The decision was based on credible reports from different parts of J&K, verifying the sighting of the crescent moon. Extending his Eid greetings to the Muslim community, especially the people of Jammu and Kashmir, the Grand Mufti wished for joy, peace, and prosperity on the occasion.

He urged people to celebrate Eid with simplicity, reminding them to help those in need and avoid excessive spending on fashion and extravagance.

Eid-ul-Fitr, the “Festival of Breaking the Fast,” marks the end of Ramadan and is observed with special prayers, festive meals, and acts of charity, including Zakat-ul-Fitr, to support the underprivileged.
