Samba, August 11: Continuing its crackdown against drug peddling and narcotics smuggling, Samba Police arrested a drug peddler and recovered approximately 12 grams of heroin-like substance from his possession in the jurisdiction of Police Station Vijaypur.
Acting on specific information, a team from Police Station Vijaypur established a vehicle-checking naka near 17 Miles, Vijaypur. During checking, an electric auto bearing registration number JK02DL-8295, coming from Salmeri towards 17 Miles, Vijaypur, was intercepted.
A thorough search of the vehicle and its driver led to the recovery of approximately 12 grams of heroin-like substance.
The accused has been identified as Ankush Sharma, son of Anil Sharma, resident of Nandini Talab Tillo, District Jammu. He was arrested, while the contraband and the electric auto were seized by the police.
In this connection, FIR No. 142/2026 under Sections 8/21/22/25 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Vijaypur, and investigation has been initiated to establish the forward and backward linkages of the narcotics network.
