The celebration continued the White House’s Diwali tradition, which began in 2003 under former President George W. Bush. Since then, the festival has been marked by successive administrations, recognising the contributions and cultural heritage of the Indian-American community.

Donald Trump, the 47th President of the United States, is currently serving his second term in office. The gathering once again highlighted the growing visibility of Indian-American leaders in American public life.
