Doda, May 2, 2026:
Under its ongoing anti-narcotics अभियान, Doda Police carried out a comprehensive inspection of chemist shops in the jurisdiction of Police Station Assar, in coordination with the Drug Inspector, to ensure strict compliance with laws governing the sale of medicines.
The drive was conducted as part of intensified efforts to curb the growing drug menace in the district. Joint teams inspected multiple chemist establishments, thoroughly checking sale records, prescriptions, billing details, and stock registers. Special emphasis was laid on ensuring adherence to provisions of the NDPS Act and other relevant regulations.
Officials verified that controlled medicines and psychotropic substances were being dispensed strictly against valid prescriptions and in accordance with prescribed norms. During the inspection, the Drug Inspector and police teams also sensitized shopkeepers about their legal responsibilities and warned them against any unauthorized sale of habit-forming drugs.
Shopkeepers were directed to maintain proper documentation and strictly follow all statutory guidelines. The teams issued stern warnings, making it clear that any violation would invite strict legal action.
The inspection drive is aimed not only at enforcement but also at prevention, seeking to break the supply chain contributing to substance abuse. Police said such surprise checks will continue across the district.
Reiterating its commitment, Doda Police emphasized that it will persist with proactive measures to combat drug abuse and safeguard public health while ensuring strict enforcement of the law.
