Doda, July 16, 2026: Doda Police has busted an illegal liquor manufacturing unit operating in the Bhagwah area and seized illicit country-made liquor, distillation equipment and raw material used in its preparation.
Acting on reliable information, the Incharge Police Post Bhagwah, along with his team, under the jurisdiction of Police Station Doda, conducted a raid at the residence of Rita Devi, wife of Mohan Singh, resident of Gaddan, Bhagwah, Doda, where illicit country-made liquor was allegedly being manufactured.
During a thorough search of the premises, the police team recovered and seized approximately 10 litres of illicit country-made liquor. The utensils, apparatus and other equipment allegedly being used for the distillation and preparation of the liquor were also seized. In addition, around 10 kilograms of jaggery (gur), reportedly being used as raw material for manufacturing illicit liquor, was recovered and taken into possession.
In connection with the recovery, FIR No. 199/2026 under Section 48(a) of the Excise Act has been registered at Police Station Doda, and further investigation has been initiated.
Doda Police reiterated its commitment to taking strict legal action against the illegal manufacture, sale and distribution of illicit liquor. The public has been urged to cooperate with the police and share information about such unlawful activities to enable timely intervention and legal action.
Police said that active public participation is essential for curbing the menace of illicit liquor and ensuring a safe, healthy and crime-free society.
