Doda Police Arrest Two Drug Peddlers; Recover 20 Grams of Heroin-Like Substance

Continuing its sustained drive against drug trafficking and substance abuse, and acting on the directions of SSP Doda Sh. Sandeep Mehta, JKPS, Doda Police arrested two drug peddlers and recovered a heroin-like substance weighing approximately 20 grams from their possession.

On February 07, 2026, a police party from Police Station Doda, led by PSI Tavseef Rafiq under the supervision of DySP Hqrs Doda Sh. Krishan Rattan, was conducting routine patrolling in the areas of Jamia Masjid, Dak Mohalla, Dromri Mohalla, Akramabad, and adjoining localities.

During patrolling at Sadeeqabad, the police party intercepted two suspicious individuals who attempted to flee on noticing the police. The suspects were identified as Piyush Katoch, S/o Fulail Singh, and Mohd Taqi, S/o Mushtaq Ahmed, both residents of Muthi Marmat, Doda.

During personal search, a white polythene pouch containing approximately 9–10 grams of heroin-like substance was recovered from Piyush Katoch, while another pouch containing approximately 10 grams of heroin-like substance was recovered from Mohd Taqi, making the total recovery approximately 20 grams.

Accordingly, both accused persons were arrested and FIR No. 28/2026 under Sections 8, 21, and 22 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Doda. Further investigation is underway.

SSP Doda has urged the general public to remain vigilant and share information regarding illegal drug activities so that stringent action can be taken against drug peddlers. District Police Doda remains committed to eliminating the menace of drugs and ensuring a drug-free society.
