Doda Police Arrest Drug Peddler with 250 Grams of Charas in Assar Under Nasha Mukt J&K Abhiyan

Doda, July 6: Continuing its crackdown against narcotics under the Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyan, Doda Police on Sunday arrested an alleged drug peddler in Assar and recovered around 250 grams of charas from his possession.

According to police, a naka was laid on the Thandapani Link Road by Police Station Assar. During routine checking, a pedestrian carrying a blue paper bag was seen approaching from the Charota side towards Assar. On noticing the police party, he allegedly became suspicious and attempted to flee.

The naka party, led by PSI Vikas Sharma, swiftly chased and apprehended the suspect. During his search, police recovered a green polythene bag containing approximately 250 grams of charas-like contraband.

The accused was identified as Parkesh Kumar, son of Jia Lal, a resident of Kunkhad, Bulandpur, Assar.

Police have registered FIR No. 21/2026 under Sections 8/20 of the NDPS Act at Police Station Assar. Further investigation is underway to trace the source of the contraband, identify forward and backward linkages, and ascertain its intended destination.

Doda Police said it remains committed to eliminating the drug menace from the district and appealed to the public to cooperate with law enforcement by sharing information about drug trafficking and substance abuse, stressing that community participation is vital for building a safe and drug-free society.
