Bandipora, May 5: A sanitation drive was carried out along the Ahamshareef route after the area was found to have turned into an illegal dumping site for improperly discarded medical waste, raising serious environmental and public health concerns.
During the operation, sanitation teams removed accumulated biomedical and other waste from the site, restoring cleanliness and ensuring proper disposal measures were followed.
Taking serious note of the violation, authorities initiated action against medical stores found responsible for the improper disposal of biomedical waste. Strict warnings were issued, and officials cautioned that further negligence would attract punitive action under relevant laws.
The district administration emphasized that such violations pose a threat to public health and environmental safety.
Authorities urged all healthcare establishments, including medical stores and clinics, to strictly adhere to prescribed biomedical waste management protocols and utilize authorized disposal systems to prevent recurrence of such incidents.
