Delhi CM Rekha Gupta allegedly attacked during Jan Sunvai; police inquiry underway

A mishap occurred during the Jan Sunvai at Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta’s residence in Civil Lines on Wednesday, the Delhi BJP said.

Delhi BJP president Virendraa Sachdeva condemned the “attack” on CM Rekha Gupta, while confirming that a police inquiry into the matter is underway.

“A mishap happened during Jan Sunvai at CM Residence, Civil Lines. Delhi BJP President Virendraa Sachdeva strongly condemns the attack on CM Rekha Gupta during the weekly Jan Sunvai. Police inquiry to reveal details,” the party said in a statement.

Delhi Congress chief Devender Yadav also condemned the alleged attack, calling the incident “unfortunate.” He raised concerns over the CM’s security, questioning, “If the CM of Delhi is not safe, then who else is?”

On Tuesday, CM Gupta had visited the Yamuna Bazaar area, where water from the overflowing Yamuna River had entered residential localities. She assured residents that there was no flood-like situation in Delhi and that the water level would drop within a day or two.

“The situation is under control. The water level was close to 206m in the morning, but it has not crossed this mark. It should recede soon. We are providing food, water, and medical facilities here. There is no flood situation in Delhi,” Gupta said.

The administration has also arranged shelter, food, and essential services in schools for those who wish to move to safer locations. (Agencies)
