Intelligence agencies investigating the November 10 Delhi terror attack involving a suicide car blast have uncovered a wider transnational terror network, structured handler chains, and plans for multiple coordinated strikes, officials told ANI.

At least 15 people were killed and several injured near the Red Fort when Dr. Umar Nabi drove a car loaded with explosives. Four other main accused—Dr. Muzammil Shakeel Ganai (Pulwama), Dr. Adeel Ahmed Rather (Anantnag), Dr. Shaheen Saeed (Lucknow), and Mufti Irfan Ahmad Wagay (Shopian)—have been taken into NIA custody.

Muzammil, arrested after 2,500 kg of ammonium nitrate was recovered in Faridabad, had purchased an AK-47 for over ₹5 lakh, later recovered from Adeel’s locker, reflecting the module’s high level of preparation and funding.

Each accused reported to a separate handler. Two key handlers, Mansoor and Hashim, operated under a senior handler, overseeing the module’s activities in layers. In 2022, Muzammil, Adeel, and Muzaffar Ahmad travelled to Turkey on instructions from Okasa of Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan, intending to reach Afghanistan.

Umar had been studying bomb-making content online and procured chemicals from Nuh and electronic components from Bhagirath Palace and Faridabad’s NIT Market. He used a deep freezer to stabilise and prepare the explosive mixture.

Investigators noted a confrontation over money between Muzammil and Umar at Al-Falah University, after which Umar handed over his red EcoSport car, already loaded with explosives, to Muzammil.

Authorities say the module intended to store explosives at multiple locations for simultaneous attacks. Investigations continue to trace the broader network, financial channels, and international handlers.

Meanwhile, the Delhi High Court refused to allow Red Fort attack co-accused Jasir Bilal Wani to meet his lawyer during NIA custodial remand. (Agencies)
