Kishtwar Jan 14, 2026:
President, District Congress Committee (DCC) Kishtwar, Shri Pyare Lal Shan, today chaired an important meeting with the newly appointed District Coordinators for all 13 blocks of District Kishtwar, along with coordinators of municipal wards of Kishtwar town.
The meeting focused on strengthening the party’s mass outreach programmes, particularly the MGNREGA Bachao Abhiyan and the flagship campaign “Humari Riyasat, Hamara Haq”, aimed at restoring democratic rights and full statehood to Jammu & Kashmir.
During the meeting, Shri Pyare Lal Shan clearly outlined the roles and responsibilities of the coordinators and instructed them to ensure effective implementation of party programmes at the Panchayat, Municipal Ward and Block levels. He emphasised that the coordinators must work as a bridge between the people and the party, ensuring that genuine public issues are raised effectively.
He specifically directed the coordinators to educate people at the grassroots level about the serious drawbacks and adverse impact of recent amendments and administrative changes affecting the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA). He said delays in wage payments, reduction in workdays and dilution of job guarantees have badly hit poor and rural households in remote areas of Kishtwar district.
Shri Pyare Lal Shan said that the MGNREGA Bachao Abhiyan is a people-centric movement to safeguard employment rights of rural labourers, small farmers and marginalised sections. He urged the coordinators to intensify awareness drives, village meetings and door-to-door campaigns to expose anti-poor policies.
Highlighting the “Humari Riyasat, Hamara Haq” campaign, the DCC President said the people of Jammu & Kashmir have been deprived of democratic rights since the downgrading of the erstwhile state. He reiterated that restoration of full statehood is a constitutional and democratic right of the people and called for peaceful mass mobilisation in its favour.
He further stressed organisational unity and sustained public outreach, stating that the Congress party remains committed to protecting the rights, dignity and welfare of the people of Jammu & Kashmir. The coordinators were asked to submit regular feedback from their respective areas and ensure active participation of youth and women in party programmes.
The meeting concluded with a resolve to intensify Congress activities across District Kishtwar and strengthen the struggle for employment security, democratic rights and restoration of statehood.
