DC Anantnag urges stakeholders’ participation in Nasha Mukt J&K Mega Padyatra, calls for united fight against drug abuse on May 09

Anantnag, May 5: In preparation for the upcoming Nasha Mukt J&K Mega Padyatra scheduled on May 9, Deputy Commissioner Anantnag, Dr. Bilal Mohiuddin Bhat, on Monday held a comprehensive meeting with civil society members, traders, transporters, and other stakeholders at Dak Bungalow, Khanabal.

The meeting was attended by ACR Tariq Ahmad Malik, concerned officials, and representatives from civil society, trader and transport associations, along with members from KP, Sikh, and Tribal communities.

Extending a formal invitation, the Deputy Commissioner urged all stakeholders to actively participate in the Mega Padyatra, stating that collective involvement is essential in the fight against drug abuse and in building a narcotics-free society. He said the rally would mark a significant moment in strengthening the district’s ongoing Nasha Mukt Jammu and Kashmir Abhiyan and expressed hope for wholehearted participation from all sections of society.

During the interaction, Dr. Bilal appreciated the proactive role of stakeholders in the campaign, noting that their participation would make the event more vibrant and inclusive while enhancing community engagement.

He emphasized that civil society, traders, and transporters play a crucial role in combating drug abuse and safeguarding the youth. He cautioned that drug addiction poses a serious threat to individuals, families, and society, requiring collective and sustained efforts for its eradication.

The DC further stated that participation from all associations and sections of society would send a strong and unified message against drug abuse. He said the padyatra would provide an important platform for the district to reinforce its resolve against the menace.

Participants on the occasion shared suggestions and assured full cooperation and active participation in the upcoming event, reaffirming their commitment to the anti-drug campaign in the district.
