Director Agriculture Jammu stresses promotion of oilseeds, pulses and natural farming practices

Jammu, May 08: A monthly review meeting of Area Development Officers and District Officers was today convened under the chairmanship of Director Agriculture Jammu (DAJ) Anil Gupta at the office of the Joint Directorate Agriculture (Inputs), Krishi Bhawan Jammu.

The meeting held detailed discussions on financial reconciliation, recovery status, and seed distribution activities across Jammu Division. Stress was laid on timely recovery of pending seed dues from previous seasons and submission of treasury challans along with revenue realization statements for April 2026.

The Director reviewed the status of deposits made in official accounts and directed officers to submit pending reconciliation statements related to Rabi 2025-26 and Kharif 2025 within stipulated timelines.

Officials were also instructed to furnish complete details regarding seed distribution under various departmental schemes in a timely manner.

During the meeting, Anil Gupta emphasized the need to promote oilseed crops, pulses, and natural farming practices across all districts of Jammu Division. He directed officers to prepare comprehensive district-wise action plans to boost cultivation of these crops in accordance with the priorities of the Government of India.

He stated that several schemes have been launched by the Government of India for promotion of oilseeds, pulses, and sustainable agriculture, and stressed effective implementation of these initiatives at the grassroots level.

The Director also proposed expansion of the Seed Village Programme across Jammu Division to strengthen quality seed production, improve seed replacement rates, and encourage certified seed multiplication among farmers.

The meeting was attended by Joint Director Agriculture (SLUB/Farms) Aman Jyoti Sharma, Agronomist (VIS) Vikas Padha, Potato Development Officer Jammu Ravi Sharma, District Agriculture Officers, Area Development Officers, Store Officers and other departmental officials.
