CUET-UG topper Devina Gahlot has said that discipline and consistency mattered more in her preparation than studying for long hours, after securing an outstanding result in the national entrance examination.
Devina, daughter of BJP MLA and former Delhi minister Kailash Gahlot, said she was initially in disbelief after seeing her result and had to repeatedly check her application number to confirm her all-India rank.
“I kept checking the application number because I could not believe that I had topped in the entire country,” she said.
She credited her family and teachers for her success, adding that she was never put under pressure during her preparation. According to her, a balanced and consistent study routine played a key role in her performance.
Explaining her strategy, Devina said she focused on studying every subject daily rather than concentrating on one area. She also emphasised regular revision and solving previous years’ question papers as key to her preparation.
She recalled that the initial phase of preparing for CUET after board exams was challenging, as she was unsure about study material and methods. However, support from her parents helped her stay motivated through moments of doubt.
Devina now aims to pursue English Honours due to her interest in literature, reading and writing. She also expressed openness to exploring journalism in the future and did not rule out a possible entry into politics, inspired by her father’s public life.
Her father, Kailash Gahlot, said the family was proud of her achievement and credited her hard work along with the support of her mother, teachers, and school, DPS Vasant Kunj.
The CUET-UG results were declared by the National Testing Agency, with several candidates achieving top percentile scores across multiple subjects.
