Jammu, Mar 13: A head constable of the Jammu and Kashmir Police and his wife were killed, while their two children were injured after their car met with an accident on Friday in the hilly district of Doda.
Police said the head constable, identified as Zulfikar Ali, and his wife lost their lives when the car they were travelling in rolled down into a river near Basti village in the Bhaderwah area of Doda district.
Their two children, who were also in the vehicle, sustained injuries and were shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment, officials said. Police have taken cognisance of the incident and initiated further proceedings.
Meanwhile, Union Minister Jitendra Singh said he spoke to Deputy Commissioner Doda, Krishan Lal, after learning about the tragic accident near Basti village in Bhaderwah.
“Unfortunately, a head constable of Jammu and Kashmir Police, Zulfikar Ali, and his wife lost their lives in the accident. Their two children were also injured but are out of danger,” Singh said in a post, adding that all possible assistance is being provided.
He also expressed condolences to the bereaved family. (Agency)
