The Congress has ruled out any change in its Punjab leadership, with party general secretary in-charge of the state, Bhupesh Baghel, confirming that Amarinder Singh Raja Warring will continue as the Punjab Congress president.
Dismissing speculation over a leadership change, Baghel said the party high command has already taken its decision and there is no question of revisiting it. He added that the Congress does not have a tradition of reversing decisions made by its leadership.
Baghel said District Congress Committee presidents and Punjab Congress Committee members have unanimously welcomed the decision. He also congratulated the newly appointed working presidents, saying the appointments reflected unity within the organisation.
The remarks came during his visit to Punjab, where he reviewed the party’s organisational preparedness for the 2027 Assembly elections with senior leaders and office-bearers.
Emphasising the party’s priorities, Baghel said the Congress is focused on strengthening its grassroots organisation and ensuring leaders work together. Referring to senior leaders Charanjit Singh Channi and Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa, he said he had spoken to both and would meet them soon if required.
The Congress leadership has reiterated that Raja Warring will continue to head the Punjab unit as the party intensifies preparations for the upcoming Assembly elections.
