Jammu, April 2026: After successfully concluding his campaign responsibilities in the Assam Assembly Elections 2026, senior BJP leader and Leader of Opposition in Jammu & Kashmir, Sunil Sharma, has resumed active political engagements in the Union Territory.
Sharma held a key organisational meeting at the Bharatiya Janata Party headquarters in Jammu, focusing on upcoming party programmes and strategic planning for effective implementation at the grassroots level.
The meeting was also attended by MP and J&K BJP President Sat Sharma and senior party leader & General Secretary (Organisation) Ashok Koul, reflecting the importance of the deliberations.
Sharma’s return marks his re-entry into the political centre stage in Jammu & Kashmir, as the party intensifies its organisational and outreach efforts.
Sources indicate that he is likely to soon leave for West Bengal to participate in the BJP’s election campaign, continuing his role in key political assignments beyond the Union Territory.
Notably, while Sharma had attended the February session, he remained absent from the subsequent session of the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly held in Jammu from March 27 to April 4, 2026.
Party insiders suggest that following the results of the Assam and West Bengal elections, Sunil Sharma is likely to be considered for a larger role at the central level within the party, given his growing prominence and organisational experience.
