An awareness lecture on the implementation of the POSH Act, 2013 and UGC Regulations, 2015 was organized at GGM Science College, Jammu by the Sexual Harassment Probe Committee, High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh, Jammu Wing, in collaboration with SPARSH, Cluster University of Jammu.
The programme, held under the guidance of Justice Sindhu Sharma and patronage of the Cluster University Vice Chancellor, aimed to strengthen awareness regarding legal frameworks for preventing and addressing sexual harassment in workplaces and educational institutions.
Registrar Cluster University of Jammu, Ankur Mahajan, highlighted the importance of safe, secure and gender-sensitive academic spaces and stressed strict compliance with POSH Act provisions and UGC regulations.
Special Judge Sonia Gupta, as resource person, delivered a detailed lecture on key provisions of the POSH Act, including Internal Committee mechanisms, inquiry procedures, confidentiality norms, and institutional responsibilities. She also discussed judicial interpretations and implementation challenges.
Participants including faculty and students actively engaged in the interactive session, raising queries related to complaint procedures, rights of complainants, and institutional safeguards, which were addressed in detail.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks, with organizers reiterating their commitment to strengthening institutional awareness and ensuring strict compliance with anti-harassment laws in educational institutions.
