Ganderbal, May 5: An awareness programme under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan (NMBA) was organized at Government Boys High School Hathbura, aiming to educate students about the harmful effects of substance abuse and encourage responsible life choices.

The programme was आयोजित by Sankalp Hub for Empowerment of Women, Mission Shakti Ganderbal, Department of Social Welfare, in collaboration with REACHA (Research and Extension Association for Conservation Horticulture and Agro Forestry) and the Department of Education.

The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students and staff and featured a series of activities designed to maximize outreach and impact. It began with an interactive awareness session where students were sensitized about the ill effects of drug abuse, including its social and health consequences.

An awareness rally was also held, with participants carrying placards and raising slogans advocating for a drug-free society. The rally aimed to spread awareness among the local community and promote collective responsibility in combating substance abuse.

Adding an environmental aspect, a plantation drive was conducted within the school premises. Students and staff planted saplings, symbolizing growth, sustainability, and a shared commitment to building a healthier, drug-free future.

Speakers on the occasion highlighted the importance of such initiatives in fostering awareness and instilling a sense of responsibility among the youth toward societal well-being.

The programme concluded with participants taking a pledge to actively contribute towards the vision of a drug-free society.
