Iran warns US of inevitable retaliation on its bases after deadly strike on Minab school kills over 160 children, injures another 100.

Tehran, March 7: Iranian Foreign Minister Syed Abbas Araghchi condemned the United States on Saturday, criticizing American strikes that targeted children and innocent civilians. He said Iran’s response would inevitably focus on American bases and institutions.

In a post on X, Araghchi accused the US of launching attacks from the “lands of our Arab friends” to target children and innocent people in Iran.

“Iran and the Arab brothers have lived side by side for centuries in a spirit of affection, friendship, and mutual respect. The American aggressors launch from the lands of our Arab friends to target children and the innocent. As for Iran’s response, it will inevitably be directed at the bases of the United States and its institutions,” he said.

The remarks follow international outrage after strikes in Minab, Hormozgan province, hit Shajare Tayyiba Girls’ Primary School, killing over 160 and injuring more than 100 students. satellite imagery, geolocated videos, and expert analysis indicate the US was likely responsible. The strike coincided with an attack on a nearby Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) naval base. Experts suggest the school may have been hit due to a targeting error or outdated intelligence.

While the White House has not confirmed responsibility, Israel Defense Forces (IDF) stated no operations occurred in the area. CENTCOM has launched an investigation into civilian casualties, but no final conclusion has been reached.

Meanwhile, Iranian President held talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin. US Rep. Joe Wilson accused Russia of providing intelligence to Iran, describing the actions as contributing to “mass chaos and death.”

These events come amid escalating West Asian tensions following a joint US-Israel strike on February 28 that killed Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and other senior figures. In retaliation, Iran launched drone and missile attacks across multiple Arab countries. (Agency)
