A technical issue forced an Air India flight bound for Delhi to abort takeoff. Air India is addressing the problem and has informed Cochin International Airport Limited (CIAL) that the aircraft is being changed. The revised departure time is expected to be 01:00 hrs,” a CIAL PRO said in a statement.

The matter came to light after Congress MP Hibi Eden, who was on board, shared on social media that the aircraft appeared to have skidded on the runway.

“Something unusual with this flight AI 504… it just felt like the flight skidded on the runway… and hasn’t taken off yet,” he wrote in a Facebook post.

Rajya Sabha MP Jebi Mather, also a passenger, said the pilot later announced that the aircraft could not be used for travel.

“Now the pilot has announced… this aircraft cannot be used. Passengers will be shifted to another aircraft, expected around 1 am,” Mather said. (Agencies)
