Ahmedabad hosting the 2030 Commonwealth Games is a testament to PM Modi’s vision, says Amit Shah

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday said that India’s success in winning the bid to host the 2030 Commonwealth Games in Ahmedabad reflects Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of making the country a global hub for sports.

In a post on X, Shah congratulated all citizens as India secured the “prestigious bid to host the 2030 Commonwealth Games in Ahmedabad.”

“This is a testament to PM Shri @narendramodi Ji’s vision for turning Bharat into a global sports hotspot. Over more than a decade, Modi Ji has developed world-class sports infrastructure and enhanced our nation’s potential through effective governance and seamless teamwork,” he said.

Ahmedabad was formally awarded the hosting rights for the centenary edition of the Commonwealth Games during the Commonwealth Sports General Assembly in Glasgow, paving the way for the event’s return to India after two decades.

The 74-member General Assembly approved India’s bid, following Ahmedabad’s recommendation as the proposed host by the Commonwealth Sports Executive Board last month.
