Srinagar: Adv. Maroof Khan, Political Youth Leader, has urged the Jammu and Kashmir Government to strengthen people-centric governance by ensuring dignity, respect, fairness and accountability in all government offices.
Reacting to a video circulating on social media allegedly showing an IAS officer misbehaving with a woman officer, Khan expressed concern over the incident and stressed the importance of professionalism, discipline and mutual respect within the administration.
He emphasised that government offices exist to serve the public and that every citizen approaching authorities with a genuine grievance deserves respectful treatment, a patient hearing and timely resolution without discrimination or unnecessary delays.
Khan called upon the government to issue clear directions to all departments to ensure courteous public dealing, transparency and accountability. He also highlighted the need to protect junior officers and subordinate employees from harassment, intimidation and undue pressure.
“Every public servant, irrespective of rank or designation, has a responsibility towards the people. No citizen should feel neglected or humiliated while seeking assistance from a government office. Respect, fairness and timely redressal of grievances must be the guiding principles of administration,” Khan said.
He further stated that good governance should not be measured solely through administrative decisions and official orders but also through the manner in which citizens are treated in government institutions.
Khan urged the Jammu and Kashmir Government to strengthen public confidence by promoting a transparent, responsive and accountable administration where every citizen receives equal treatment, dignity and a fair opportunity to have their concerns addressed.
